CNN tells us why Jay-Z's Music still Mattered on 9/11

"That ability to function, to keep going, is what no doubt kept the city and nation together during one of the darkest times in the nation' s history. Food had to be purchased . Things had to be done. Even something as seemingly inconsequential as hot music, had to be listened to."

Sneaker enthusiasts and fans of the 1989 movie Back to the Future II had to wait almost 23 years for their Nike MAG to drop. After all the video and event hype, an extensive behind the scenes video series is presented here. Several of the personalities involved in the whole project go on the record from both Nike and Back to the Future‘s teams including Tinker Hatfield and Mark Parker. The Nike MAG has now obviously been made available for collectors through eBay but this video hopefully answers any questions many might have regarding the process behind the “greatest shoes never made.”

In addition to working on the Nike MAG shoes for the original Back to the Future II movie, the film’s creative team also tapped Nike to design a futuristic jacket for Marty McFly.  Embodying the same innovation, technology and versatility as the shoes, the McFly Jacket was created with an ability to adjust to body size and length and was equipped with a self-detecting moisture and drying system.  The above video features Tinker Hatfield addressing the jacket’s creation for the movie.

Nike unveiled official images and shared release info on the Marty McFly’s – officially know as the 2011 Nike MAG. Beginning tonight at 8:30PM PST, 1500 pairs of the 2011 Nike Mag will be auctioned on eBay’s Fashion Vault (nikemag.eBay.com) over the next 10 days with the net proceeds going directly to The Michael J. Fox Foundation.

Check the photos, another teaser video released today and the full press release below.

The NIKE MAG is no longer the “greatest shoe never made.” The mythical shoe that originally captured the imagination of audiences in Back to the Future II is being released – and they’re here to help create a future without Parkinson’s disease.

1500 pairs of the 2011 NIKE MAG will be auctioned on eBay with all net proceeds going directly to The Michael J. Fox Foundation. Each day for the duration of the ten-day auction, one hundred and fifty pairs of the 2011 NIKE MAG shoes will be made available via eBay’s Fashion Vault. The auction starts September 8, 8:30PM PST, and will end September 18. Thanks to a previous 50 million dollar match given to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, all donations will be matched, effectively doubling the contributions from the auction.

The original NIKE MAG was worn by the Back to the Future character Marty McFly, played by Michael J. Fox, in the year 2015. It came alive, lit up and formed to Marty’s foot. The 2011 NIKE MAG shoe was designed to be a precise replica of the original from Back to the Future II. The aesthetic is an exact match, down to the contours of the upper, the glowing LED panel and the electroluminescent NIKE in the strap. The 2011 NIKE MAG illuminates with the pinch of the “ear” of the high top, glowing for five hours per charge.

Will Nike finally release the Marty McFly's?

YouTube user “DocEmmettBrown88″ just unveiled a video titled “McFly’ s Closet” and the clip features racksonracksonracks of the Twenty11 Nike M.A.G. aka Marty McFly’s kicks as seen in Back To The Future. Nike’ s been rumored to have patented the whole self- lacing sneaker system so one has to wonder where are the hoover-boards?
